Borage Oil -
100 ml - Organic Virgin Oil extracted from first cold pressing
Borage is native to Syria but is found throughout the Mediterranean region, and particularly in North Africa and Spain. This plant with long, tough hairs grows in mountains at altitudes of up to 1,800 m. The name Borage is derived from its Arabic name ‘abou-rach’, which means ‘father of sweat’ because it induces sweating.
Its use can be traced back to the first century AD when its leaves were eaten raw and the whole plant was used as a purgative due to its diuretic properties. The use of its ‘black seed oil’ is a lot more recent.
Properties: The distinct feature of Borage Oil is its high level of linoleic acid. This essential fatty acid, which is not produced by the human body, promotes the permeability of the epidermis.
Borage Oil therefore has regenerative and restructuring properties. It moisturises and stimulates the epidermis. Used regularly, it softens and tones skin, improving the elasticity of the epidermis; it is the pre-eminent anti-aging oil.
It is therefore recommended for dry skin, wrinkles, stretch marks, dry and brittle hair, and fragile fingernails.
Borage Oil is also said to be beneficial for reducing swelling, soothing tender joints and for lessening the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis. Lastly, it is renowned for helping to combat acne and eczema by promoting the activity of zinc.
